A short but sweet selection for Poetry Tuesday this week. I am considering doing the September 30 Days of Biking Challenge. If I ride today, it’s going to be a short one. It’s really hot (even for me) and humid here today. Also, the ragweed is already in full bloom and my allergies are letting me know it. I had a lovely asthma wheeze going on yesterday and this morning my contacts had a blur going on for the first few hours. I really should buy some glasses! Didn’t I say that about 8 months ago? 😉 I have such bad vision that I can only see clearly about 4-6 inches away without my contacts. So once I take out my contacts for the night, I’m essentially blind. That’s been a little challenge as I am still getting used to the layout of my new place.

Speaking of glasses, I love this print so much that I have it hanging on my wall:

When I was young, I had the idea that I might become blind one day. So, being the nerd that I was, I decided that I was going to blindfold myself so I could memorize everything in my house. My brother and sister were rather annoyed with me fumbling all over the place, doing my best Hellen Keller imitation. My sister finally had enough when I ventured into the front yard. She said all of her friends were riding by, asking if her little sister was retarded or something. Hey, it was the 70s, we didn’t have to be PC. She took away my blindfold after that, and thus ended my little blindness experiment.  🙂 In retrospect, I was a weird little kid.
