I Don’t Do Winter

Like many parts of the country, it’s been horribly cold here. I’m finding it hard not to feel miserable and cranky. I’m trying to come from a place of gratitude and acceptance, but this really sucks. Most of the time my fingers and toes are numb. It hurts. I’m no wimp when it comes to pain, but I’m better with acute pain than chronic. Today I sat at my desk with fingerless gloves and a blanket over me. I can’t like this weather. I don’t complain, so I get really quiet and keep to myself, but I know I just look miserable. I need an attitude adjustment. 🙂

WHAT I’M READING: I just started The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

WHAT I’M WATCHING: Hmmm. Trying to remember if I watched anything this week. Oh yeah, a friend of mine recommended the documentary Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead. It was really interesting, but I love documentaries.  Netfix has a great selection

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: Rudresh Mahanthappa’s Chillin‘. It’s off his new album, Bird Calls, a tribute to Charlie Parker.

WHAT I’M WEARING: a long sleeve merino wool shirt, a Sherpa lined fleece, sweats, and wool hiking socks. I’m still freezing.

WHAT I’M EATING: Pretty much everything in sight. I had breakfast twice (2 pieces of wheat toast with half an avocado on each and a bowl of oatmeal with dried cherries, honey, and walnuts), a mid-morning snack ( Greek yogurt with honey and granola), pre-lunch lunch (jambalaya), post-workout protien shake, and lunch (bowl of homemade chicken tortilla soup) –all by 2:00 p.m. today. Hey, I need fuel for all this shivering!

WHAT I’M ENJOYING: My bed. I don’t want to leave it until spring

WHAT I’M SNIFFING: Hot Cocoa that I just made to thaw out my hands.
