In the Name of Religion

This photo was taken several years ago at a Christmas party. I call this dear woman “Mama” although she is not my mother. She was born and raised in Iran and is a Muslim. According to our President, she is a terrorist, and would not be allowed into the United States today. Ironically, she embodies more of what we would consider “Christian” values than most anyone I’ve ever know. Compassion, kindness, and charity towards all. Muslims are being made to answer for Muslims everywhere.  But stop and think if Christians were held to the same.  History is full of atrocities committed by Christians for Christ, against not just other religions but against Christian themselves. Let’s take a look at some of them, shall we? The Central African Republic Genocide, the Native American Cultural Cleansing, the Spanish Inquisiton, and nearly everything that the Westboro Baptist Church does.

President Trump has signed an executive order that bans citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East from entering the United States for 90 days, according to the White House. His proposed list doesn’t include Muslim-majority countries where his Trump Organization has done business or pursued potential deals. Properties include golf courses in the United Arab Emirates and two luxury towers operating in Turkey.

Jesus said love one another. Period. He didn’t but any conditions or restrictions upon that. Let’s make something clear: if you’re going to proclaim that all lives matter, regardless of what stage of development they are in, and hold protests to fight against a woman’s right to have an abortion, then you better live up to your beliefs. Because if you fight for the life of someone who can’t even think or feel yet, why do you turn your head when a fully developed child, through no fault of their own, needs your help and voice the most? If all lives matter, all lives matter, period. You can’t discriminate and still pretend you are on God’s side.

Thank you! Yes, already knew that and totally appreciate it. We all need sanity checks so staying away from social media is probably a good call.
The only bright side is my hope that one day, all of this craziness will spur on a set of words that will help me and at least one other human, make sense of…something…or maybe even one thing. Stay well and take care!

Thank you! Yes, I already knew that and totally appreciate it. Sanity checks are certainly needed so avoiding social media at times sounds healthy. The only bright side on many recent days is that all of this craziness will spur on a set of words that will help me make sense of it all. Stay well and take care!
